Why now?

Many passionate leaders have stepped forward to introduce initiatives to make their workplaces and communities more diverse and inclusive. Yet being passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion does not guarantee success!

As companies and organizations move toward more intentional DEI, they need people with a strong foundation: knowledge and practices for having uncomfortable conversations and taking inclusive action.

The How To Be An Ally Virtual Summit is a safe space where passionate leaders can expand their knowledge, learn action-oriented techniques and create a community that will prepare them for creating more impactful DEI engagement.

     FAQ
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. When is the summit?

The summit will start on Monday, October 4 at 10 AM (CST) and end at 2:45 PM (CST) on Wednesday, October 6.

2. Will you send the recordings afterward?

To get the most value out of the summit, we recommend participating as much as possible during the live sessions. You can also get the recordings for an additional $99, and watch the parts you've missed or use them as a valuable asset for your company's DEI trainings.

3. Why a full three days?

This summit is for people who are ready to take the next step - a deeper dive into their leadership practice. The work is thorough and will require time for participants to experience the change! Three days is a lot of time, but it is all content that people can apply right away. It's a proper conference experience, not just webinar. And think of it this way: this is three decades of knowledge being condensed down into three days!

4. Where can I buy a ticket?

We're managing our ticket sales at our online store

5. How much does the summit cost?

We will be offering an early bird special at $149 through July 31, 2021. For an additional $99, we will send you the recordings.

6. Is there a discount for groups?

Yes! You get a 10% discount for 10 tickets or more. This discount is added automatically at checkout.

7. I want to do more than attend - where can I find sponsorship information?

Check out sponsorship opportunities here.

8. What do you mean by "ally?

To be an ally is to unite oneself to another to promote a common interest. In the context of this summit, we're seeking to train people who want to ally themselves with the fight for racial equality. The skills you'll learn during the event are transferable to movements toward equality for other discriminated groups, including women, people with disabilities, LGBTQIA folks, among others.

9. Who are the hosts?

Deanna Singh is a business consultant, speaker, and podcaster who is internationally recognized for her work in leadership, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Deanna helps her clients create more equitable and inclusive work environments and engage more authentically within their internal and external communities. A gifted communicator, she is a champion for marginalized communities through her work.

Justin Ponder is a professor who teaches courses on Ethnic Studies, African American Studies, and Ethnic Minority Literature. He has published in numerous journals and books on the issue of race and identity politics, exploring the ways to bridge the gap between who we are and who we must become to achieve a more equitable world for others. He has helped organizations and leaders consider connections between the historical past, the social present, and a more just future.

10. I'm already socially conscious -- why do I need to attend?

Whether you're new to the racial justice conversation or you've been aware of these issues for a long time, we can always expand our knowledge and toolset to be better and more intentional activists. Everyone has subconscious biases. Without recognizing and accepting them, we can’t work toward changing them. It’s not enough for us to be “not racist” at a conscious or cognitive level -- we have to become actively anti-racist if we’re going to achieve equality.

11. What do I need to participate in the summit?

An internet connection and openness -- that's it.

12. How can I prepare for the summit?

Once you register, we'll send you some resources you can review before the summit starts.
